best atm company

How to Choose the Best ATM Company in 2027

If you are searching for the best ATM company in 2027, you are going to find plenty of choices. There are nationwide ATM companies, local ATM providers, online ATM stores, ATM processors, free ATM placement companies and independent salespeople. There are also Facebook groups, YouTube channels, online courses and membership programs. All are ATM “experts” willing to tell you where you should buy your machine and who should process it.

So, who is actually the best ATM company?

The answer isn’t necessarily the company with the cheapest ATM, the biggest Facebook group or the slickest website. And there probably isn’t one company that is the best choice for every single customer.

A convenience store owner buying one ATM has different needs than someone trying to build a 25-machine ATM route. An experienced independent ATM deployer may care heavily about interchange and processing, while a first-time ATM owner may need much more help with setup and support. A bank or credit union replacing branch ATMs has completely different requirements.

The best ATM company is ultimately the company that provides the right combination of equipment, pricing, processing, service, support and experience that best aligns with your goals.

At Best Products Sales & Service, Inc., we have been in the ATM and financial equipment business since 1998. We sell ATMs, process ATM transactions, install and service equipment and work with customers ranging from someone purchasing their first ATM to established independent ATM operators and financial institutions.

Over the years, we have learned something important: the price of the ATM is only one part of choosing an ATM company.

What Makes a Good ATM Company?

A good ATM company should be able to help you with much more than simply purchasing a machine.

Buying an ATM is actually the easy part.

You can go online, enter a credit card number and have an ATM shipped to your business. The more important questions start after you buy it.

Who programs the ATM? Who processes the transactions? Who helps you get connected? How does your surcharge money get deposited? Are you eligible and how much interchange do you receive? Who answers the phone when you have a problem? Is it always the same people or a revolving door with limited knowledge? What happens when you need a part? And if the ATM cannot be repaired over the phone, can they actually repair it?

Those questions help separate an ATM equipment seller from a full-service ATM company.

Ideally, you want a provider that understands the entire ATM business, including equipment, processing, installation, service, monitoring, communications and ongoing technical support.

That doesn’t mean every customer needs every one of those services. But it is nice to know they are available when you need them.

Don’t Choose an ATM Company Based on Price Alone

This is one of the biggest mistakes we see people make when buying an ATM.

Let’s say you find the exact same ATM on two different websites. One company sells it for $2,500. Another company advertises it for $1,900.

The $1,900 machine sounds like the obvious choice.

Maybe it is.

But before buying it, find out what comes along with that price.

Some companies can heavily discount the ATM because they make their money elsewhere. You may be required to sign a long-term processing agreement. There could be monthly fees, transaction fees, expensive wireless service, minimums or a percentage of your ATM surcharge going back to the company.

That inexpensive ATM can become a very expensive ATM over the course of its operation.

This is why we recommend comparing the total ATM relationship, not simply the advertised equipment price.

Ask how much the ATM costs. But also ask about processing. Ask about communications. Ask about interchange. Ask about monthly fees. Ask about service. Ask about the contract. And definitely ask whether anyone besides you and your location is receiving a portion of the surcharge.

Saving $500 on the ATM isn’t much of a deal if the agreement costs you thousands of dollars later.

Should You Keep 100% of Your ATM Surcharge?

If you purchase and own your ATM, this should be one of the first questions you ask.

Let’s say your ATM charges a $3 surcharge.

Who gets the $3?

Whoever officially owns that ATM, should be getting 100% of that surcharge income. Depending on volume, there may be small network fees that are assessed adding up to a few bucks at the end of the month. If you operate an ATM business, and have any sort of real volume, expect to earn 100% of the surcharge plus 100% of the interchange, and be charged a buy rate per transaction.

Compare ATM Processing, Not Just ATM Machines

ATM processing is another area that is easy to overlook when you’re excited about purchasing your first machine.

Your processor is working behind the scenes every time someone uses your ATM. Processing connects the ATM to the networks, facilitates transaction authorization, provides reporting and monitoring and plays a role in settlement.

That makes your processing relationship extremely important.

When comparing ATM processing companies, ask about processing fees, interchange, surcharge ownership, settlement, online reporting, monitoring, communications and contract terms. Our company utilizes three processors depending on our customers needs.

You should also understand who you are actually doing business with.

There are ATM sellers and independent salespeople who are several layers removed from the actual processing relationship. That isn’t automatically a problem, but you should know who will be supporting you when you need help. For example- there are many people who claim they are Agents of the US’s largest ATM company- and in reality they go through two or three people before you, so there are lots of hands in the pot.

And don’t be afraid to ask a simple question:

What happens if I want to leave?

A great deal isn’t so great if you later discover you are locked into an agreement you didn’t fully understand.

Does the ATM Company Actually Service ATMs?

Here is another simple question we recommend asking:

“If my ATM breaks, can you fix it?”

You may be surprised by the answer.

Not every company selling ATMs actually services ATMs.

Some companies are primarily online equipment sellers. Others specialize in processing. Some are independent operators or sales organizations. When you have a hardware problem, they may direct you to the manufacturer or tell you to locate a technician in your area.

There isn’t necessarily anything wrong with that arrangement, provided you know that upfront.

We just think service should be part of the conversation before you purchase the machine, not after it breaks.

Best Products provides ATM repair and maintenance service nationwide. Our service background also influences the equipment we recommend. There is a difference between knowing which ATMs sell well and knowing what happens to those machines after they have been operating in the field for years.

How Long Has the ATM Company Been in Business?

A newer company can certainly be a good ATM company. Longevity alone doesn’t make one company better than another.

But experience does matter.

The ATM industry has changed tremendously over the years. Manufacturers have come and gone. Processing platforms have come and gone. EMV and all sorts of upgrades changed the industry. Security standards have evolved. Wireless communications have revolutionized the industry. Software requirements have changed. Compliance requirements continue to change.

Best Products Sales & Service has been in business since 1998.

We have watched the independent ATM industry grow and change for decades. We have worked with retail businesses, independent ATM deployers, banks and credit unions through multiple generations of equipment and technology.

When you are choosing a company that could be processing your transactions and supporting your equipment for many years, experience should at least be part of the decision.

What Are the Best ATM Brands?

A good ATM company should also give you options.

For most retail ATM applications today, Genmega and Hyosung are two of the major manufacturers we sell and recommend.

Popular machines include the Genmega G2500, Genmega Onyx, Genmega Onyx W, Hyosung Halo 2 and Hyosung Force.

But there isn’t one ATM that is best for every business.

A convenience store doing normal transaction volume may not need the most expensive ATM available, but they may benefit by offering two denominations. An ATM such as a G2500 or Halo 2 can be an excellent fit.

A high-end hotel, nightclub, busy retail location or business where appearance matters may want to step up to something like an Onyx or Force.

Other locations may require a wall-mounted ATM, through-the-wall machine, higher-capacity dispenser or completely different configuration.

The best ATM company shouldn’t simply sell you whichever machine it happens to make the most money on.

It should help you determine which ATM actually makes sense for your location.

Is Buying an ATM Online a Bad Idea?

Absolutely not.

We sell ATMs online ourselves.

The problem isn’t buying an ATM online. The problem is buying an ATM only because you found the cheapest price online.

Before ordering, look at the company behind the website.

Does someone answer the phone? Can you call and speak with somebody or do they call you back 3 days later? Do they have any reviews? Do the reviews look legitimate? Do they understand ATM processing? Can they program the machine? Can they help you get it online? Do they provide technical support? Can they provide parts? Do they service ATMs? What happens after the machine leaves the warehouse?

There are excellent companies selling ATMs online.

There are also part-time ATM sellers and organizations using discounted equipment to generate long-term processing revenue.

Do your homework and understand the entire relationship.

Facebook ATM Groups Can Be a Great Resource — But Be Careful

If you are starting an ATM business or already own ATMs, you have probably come across Facebook ATM groups and other online ATM communities.

We actually think these groups can be a great resource.

There are groups with tens of thousands of members discussing ATM machines, locations, processing, banking, vault cash, repairs, commissions, contracts and almost every other issue an ATM operator is likely to encounter.

You can ask a question and hear from multiple ATM operators within minutes. You can see problems other people are having. You can learn from people who have already made mistakes you might otherwise make yourself.

There is tremendous value in that.

But there is also something you should always keep in mind:

You don’t necessarily know who is giving you the advice—or why they are giving it.

The person answering your question could be an experienced ATM operator with hundreds of machines and 20 years of experience.

They could also own one ATM and have been in the business for two months and now consider themselves experts.

They might be an ATM salesperson. They could be a processor. They might sell locations. They might receive referral fees. They could receive residual income if you process through the company they recommend.

None of that automatically means their advice is bad.

It simply means you should understand that advice in a Facebook group isn’t necessarily independent advice.

Ask Why Someone Is Recommending an ATM Company

This is particularly important when someone posts:

“Who’s the best ATM company?”

Or:

“Who should I process with?”

You might receive 20 responses recommending different companies.

The question is: why are they recommending them?

Have they personally used that company?

For how long?

How many ATMs do they have with them?

What are they paying?

Have they ever actually needed service?

Does the person recommending the company receive compensation if you sign up?

Again, there is nothing inherently wrong with someone earning a referral commission or processing residual. The important thing is knowing whether the recommendation is coming from a customer sharing an experience or somebody trying to make a buck.

The same logic applies to negative reviews.

One person’s bad experience doesn’t necessarily make a company terrible, just as one person’s glowing recommendation doesn’t automatically make a company great.

Look for patterns and ask specific questions.

Make Your Questions More Specific

Instead of asking a Facebook group:

“Who is the best ATM processor?”

Try asking:

“Who have you personally processed with for at least three years, how many ATMs do you have with them, what fees are you paying and what happens when you actually need support?”

You’ll probably get much more useful information.

If somebody recommends an ATM model, ask how many of those machines they actually operate.

If somebody says a company has the cheapest ATMs, ask whether processing is required and whether there are any monthly fees.

If somebody says a processor has the highest interchange, ask them to show you how they calculated it.

If somebody tells you a location is worth a certain amount of money, ask how they arrived at that number.

The more specific the question, the more valuable the answer.

Use Facebook Groups as a Resource, Not Your Only Resource

We aren’t telling anyone to stay away from ATM Facebook groups.

Quite the opposite.

Join them. Read them. Ask questions. Talk to other operators. There is a lot of valuable knowledge in these communities.

Just verify what you learn before making an important financial decision.

If someone recommends a processor, research the processor yourself.

If someone recommends an ATM company, call the company.

If someone tells you a certain ATM is terrible, find out why.

If someone says you should sign a five-year agreement, read the agreement yourself and decide whether it makes sense.

Facebook groups are an excellent place to gather opinions.

They shouldn’t necessarily be the final word.

Be Careful With the ATM “Guru”

The growing popularity of the ATM business as a side hustle has created another category you will encounter online: the ATM guru.

There are courses, coaching programs, location services, social-media personalities and people promising to teach you how to create passive income with ATMs.

Some provide excellent information.

Some don’t.

The easiest part of the ATM business is buying an ATM.

Finding good locations is the hard part.

No Facebook group, YouTube channel, broker, course, internet guru or ATM company can magically eliminate that reality.

If you want to build a successful ATM route, you need good locations. And if you want a lot of good locations, you generally need to hustle.

You need to talk to business owners. You need to visit existing businesses. You need to watch for new businesses opening. You need to follow up. You need to hear “no” and keep going.

The harder you hustle, the better your chances of finding those home-run locations.

So if someone’s primary sales pitch is that ATMs are completely passive and they have discovered a secret way for you to get rich without doing much work, ask plenty of questions before pulling out your credit card.

What’s the Best ATM Company for Someone Starting an ATM Business?

Someone starting an ATM business needs more than just an ATM.

You need to understand equipment, processing, surcharge revenue, vault cash, banking, contracts, location commissions, service and how to evaluate potential locations.

A good ATM company should help you understand those things without pretending it can guarantee your success.

The ATM itself isn’t going to make your ATM business successful.

Your locations will.

An expensive ATM in a terrible location is still a bad investment. A cheap ATM in a fantastic location can be a home run.

For a new operator, the best ATM company is one that gives you good equipment, fair processing, support when you need it and enough information to make your own good decisions.

What Is the Best ATM Company for a Retail Business?

If you own the business where the ATM will be installed, your needs are different.

You generally have two major options: purchase and operate your own ATM or allow an ATM company to provide a full-service placement.

If you are regularly at the business and comfortable managing the cash, buying the ATM can be very attractive. You own the equipment, maintain greater control and generally retain 100% of the ATM revenue.

If you are an absentee owner or simply don’t want to deal with ATM cash, maintenance and operation, a full-service ATM placement may make more sense.

Neither option is automatically better.

A good ATM company should be willing to explain both.

In fact, sometimes the best advice an ATM company can give you is not to buy an ATM.

What About Free ATM Placement Companies?

A free ATM placement can be an excellent arrangement for the right location.

Typically, the ATM company provides the machine, handles processing and service and may provide the vault cash. The business provides the space and electricity and receives an agreed portion of the ATM income.

There is little or no upfront investment.

The tradeoff is that you give up some income and control.

If you operate a busy location and don’t mind purchasing and loading your own ATM, ownership may produce substantially more revenue.

If you want nothing to do with operating an ATM, sharing the income with a full-service provider may be well worth it.

The right answer depends on the business.

Look at the Company Behind the Website

A professional website is important, but it doesn’t tell you everything about an ATM company.

Look deeper.

How long has the company been operating? Does it have a real office? Does it employ technicians? Does it sell multiple ATM brands? Does it provide processing? Does it service what it sells? Can you speak with someone knowledgeable? Does it have legitimate customer reviews? Does it work with established businesses and financial institutions?

If the provider is local, ask whether you can visit.

Best Products is headquartered in Floral Park, New York, on the Queens/Long Island border. We maintain an ATM showroom and warehouse, and local customers can see many popular ATM models before purchasing.

For customers outside our local market, we sell ATM equipment nationwide and provide nationwide processing and ATM service support.

Get Advice From Someone Willing to Tell You “No”

This may be one of the most important things to look for when choosing an ATM company.

You want someone willing to tell you no.

Sometimes you shouldn’t buy an ATM.

Sometimes the location isn’t good enough. Maybe they take credit cards, and they have very few customers a day.

Sometimes your existing ATM is perfectly fine and you simply need better processing.

Sometimes the expensive machine you’re looking at isn’t going to make you another dollar compared with a less expensive model.

Sometimes replacing an older ATM doesn’t make financial sense yet.

If the answer to every question is conveniently whatever results in you buying something, you should probably get a second opinion.

Whether advice comes from Best Products, another ATM company, an ATM operator or somebody in a Facebook group, we think there is a simple test:

Good advice should still make sense after you remove the sales pitch.

So, Who Is the Best ATM Company?

There probably isn’t one ATM company that is the perfect choice for every customer in America.

Instead of looking for a company that simply declares itself the best, look for one that can demonstrate why it is a good fit for you.

Compare experience.

Compare equipment prices.

Compare ATM processing.

Compare interchange.

Compare surcharge ownership.

Compare contracts.

Compare equipment choices.

Compare technical support.

Compare service capabilities.

And compare what happens after the ATM is delivered.

At Best Products Sales & Service, Inc., we have been helping businesses, independent ATM operators and financial institutions with ATM equipment, processing and service since 1998. We sell leading ATM brands, provide nationwide ATM processing and service and support customers ranging from someone purchasing their first ATM to established operators managing large portfolios.

We’re not going to tell you we’re the best ATM company simply because our name happens to be Best Products.

We’d rather explain what we offer, show you the numbers, answer your questions and let you decide.

Frequently Asked Questions About Choosing an ATM Company

What is the best ATM company?

The best ATM company depends on your specific needs. Look for an established provider offering competitive equipment pricing, transparent ATM processing, favorable surcharge and interchange arrangements, multiple equipment choices, knowledgeable technical support and reliable service. The cheapest ATM company isn’t necessarily the best ATM company once processing, contracts, fees and long-term support are considered.

What should I look for when choosing an ATM company?

Compare experience, ATM brands, equipment pricing, processing fees, surcharge ownership, interchange, contract terms, technical support, monitoring, installation and repair capabilities. Make sure you understand the complete financial relationship before signing an agreement.

Where is the best place to buy an ATM?

The best place to buy an ATM is an established provider that offers competitive equipment pricing and support after the sale. Buying an ATM online is perfectly fine, but don’t select a provider based solely on the lowest advertised price. Compare processing requirements, contracts, warranty support, programming, technical assistance and service.

What is the best ATM for a small business?

For many small businesses, the Genmega G2500 and Hyosung Halo 2 are excellent retail ATM choices. Businesses looking for a more premium appearance or additional features may prefer machines such as the Genmega Onyx or Hyosung Force. The best ATM depends on your location, expected transaction volume, capacity requirements, appearance and budget.

Are Facebook ATM groups reliable?

Facebook ATM groups can be an excellent source of information because they allow new and experienced operators to exchange ideas and real-world experiences. However, users should consider who is providing the advice and whether that person has a financial interest in a particular ATM company, processor, product or service. Use online groups to gather information, but verify important advice before making decisions.

How do I know if an ATM recommendation is legitimate?

Ask specific questions. Find out whether the person making the recommendation actually uses the company or equipment, how long they have used it and how many ATMs they operate. If someone recommends a processor or ATM company, it is also reasonable to ask whether they receive a referral fee, commission or processing residual.

Should I keep 100% of my ATM surcharge?

If you own the ATM, understand exactly how the surcharge is distributed. An independent ATM operator may voluntarily share surcharge revenue with the business hosting the machine, but you should also determine whether your processor or ATM provider takes a portion and what services you receive in return.

Does ATM processing matter when choosing an ATM company?

Yes. Processing affects transaction authorization, settlement, reporting, monitoring, network connectivity and potentially your ATM income. Compare processing fees, interchange, surcharge arrangements, contracts and support rather than treating processing as an afterthought.

Can I switch ATM processing companies if I already own an ATM?

In many situations, yes. Existing ATMs can generally be moved to another processor, although you should review your current agreement for contractual obligations before making a change.

How much does an ATM cost in 2027?

ATM prices vary based on manufacturer, model, dispenser configuration, screen, card reader, communications and other options. Compare the complete cost of ownership rather than only the purchase price. Processing fees, communications, service costs and surcharge-sharing arrangements can matter more over time than a few hundred dollars saved when buying the machine.

Should I buy an ATM or get a free ATM placement?

If you operate the location and are comfortable supplying the vault cash, owning the ATM generally provides more income and control. If you don’t want to manage cash, equipment or service, a full-service placement may be a better fit.

Is it better to use a local or nationwide ATM company?

It depends on your needs. Local service can be valuable when an ATM requires hands-on repair, while nationwide capabilities are important for businesses and ATM operators with machines in multiple markets. Look for a provider that can deliver knowledgeable support and dependable service where you operate.

Choosing Your ATM Company

Buying an ATM is easy.

Choosing the company behind it is the important part.

Whether you’re buying your first ATM, starting an ATM business, switching processors, replacing existing equipment or operating an established ATM route, take the time to understand the entire relationship.

Ask questions. Compare companies. Use Facebook groups. Talk to other ATM operators. Read reviews. Compare processing agreements. Look at equipment prices. Understand surcharge splits. Find out who provides service.

Then make your own decision.

Best Products Sales & Service, Inc. provides ATM equipment, processing, installation, monitoring and service to customers throughout the United States.

The best ATM company isn’t necessarily the company that tells you it’s the best. It’s the company that gives you the information, equipment, support and terms that make the most sense for your business.
